About

I am a PhD student in Philosophy at Birkbeck, University of London. My project is funded by the Diversity100 consortium of the university. Previously, I completed my MPhil in Philosophy at the University of Warwick, and my BA in Philosophy and History of Art at University College London.

My project is situated between contemporary aesthetics and liberal political philosophy and explores whether we have persuasive reasons for protecting obscene artworks when their content might be shown to have negative impacts on the marginalised members of society that are being obscenely depicted. I hope to show that obscenity is not a homogenous phenomenon but has importantly different ethical and political meaning and impacts.

I also have interests in Aristotle, Plato, feminist philosophy, and the metaphysics of race. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, going on walks in the countryside, swimming, painting, and watching psychological horror films.
